Welcome to your health plan
As a member of I.A.T.S.E Local 873, you enjoy a comprehensive group benefit plan. Certain benefits, including a portion of a member’s Health & Dental claims, Critical Illness, and all the short-term disability payments, are self – insured, which means eligible claims are paid directly from the Local 873 Health & Welfare Trust Funds. Canada Life (formerly Great-West Life) adjudicates claims and coordinates benefit payments for health, dental, and short-term disability, but the Trust assumes the financial liability and control of the benefits fund. The eligibility requirement for all Membership Benefits (Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Member Assistance Program, Best Doctors) is for a member to be in good standing as determined by the constitution and bylaws of Local 873. All plan benefits are primarily funded by Producer (employer) contributions under contracts negotiated by IATSE Local 873. Your benefits booklet will provide full details about coverage and limits for all your benefits.
